Illuminated Singapore with the Flyer, Gardens by the Bay and Flower Dome

How I wish I was in Singapore this weekend, you know why because they are celebrating their 50th birthday. The celebrations have kicked off on a grand scale. The Jubilee Weekend from 7th August to 10th August is all about celebrations, carnivals, concerts and fun filled performances. While I sit here and imagine Singapore soaking in grandeur of the celebrations, I cannot help but reminisce my trip to Singapore. The two day trip was short and sweet. We witnessed the main attractions of Singapore and came back with our memory card full of breathtaking pictures. Continue reading

Top 5 things to do in Genting Highland !!

Genting Highland is one of the most popular weekend getaways from Malaysia. It is just 54 kilometers away from the main Kuala Lumpur city. It offers a complete package for a relaxing and yet exciting weekend. While there are tonnes of things to do in Genting Highlands but there are few which are a must to do. Here is a list of my Top 5 things to do in Genting Highland.

  • Genting Skyway Cable Car: You can reach Genting Higland via your own car, hired transport and public buses, but they all stop at Gohtong Jaya. Gohtong Jaya is their main station from where the cable car disembark for the Genting Holiday Resort hotel. They have proper parking space in case you are going by your own car. Cable Car rides can be scary if you are scared of heights. So be prepared to be scared a little. I would suggest without overthinking just get into the cable car and enjoy the ride and the breathtaking view. I was amazed by the engineering of the cable cars. At such heights it takes craftsmanship to pull up one car full of people over just a cable.
This is just the starting of the ride.

This is just the starting of the ride.

Agrasen Ki Baoli – A historical monument in the middle of hustle and bustle of New Delhi !!

I was fascinated to visit Agrasen Ki Baoli ever since I watched the movie PK. Remember Agrasen Ki Baoli was Amir Khan’s abode in the movie. I had made many plans for it but all went for a toss for some or the other reason. Recently I went to Chandani Chowk for a photo walk and while returning I decided to pay a visit to this place. It was an instantenous plan and I went with the flow.

How #Friendship Day celebration has changed over years !

At the very outset a very happy friendship day to all of you. Since the time I have woke up today I have received hundreds of friendship day messages on every social media. So basically no matter where you go you would definitely find someone wishing you “Happy Friendship Day”.

Everyone is posting pictures with their besties and flaunting their friendship saga on almost every social media, not that I have any issues with it. It is good to witness so much of sudden love and friendship going around in the air. The celebration got me thinking of the way I used to celebrate this day with my close friends, and I realized that it has changed upside down.

Back then instant messaging apps like whatsapp, facebook messenger, hangout wasn’t very handy for everyone so we used to call each other. Yes an actual call and not wishing over text like today. Technology has seriously taken over us. How about calling up your friends and wishing them like old times.

Motorola might lose some customers now, read this before buying any of their MotoGs !

Recently Motorola launched its Moto G third generation mobile phone. While the internet is inundated with accolades for the phone and its new features I cannot help but remember the ordeal that one of my dear friends has faced with its 2nd generation phone. She had a terrible experience chasing the company as well as the seller because her phone was among the few faulty pieces. She bought the Moto X 2nd Generation last year in September from Flipkart on the very day it was launched.

She got the phone as a gift on the occasion of Karva Chauth. I still remember her Facebook update expressing her happiness of being one the few early owners of the phone. She used the phone for a few days and she was happy with all the features and performance. She couldn’t stop praising her phone as well as Motorola.

Ishq par zor nahi hai ye woh aatish Ghalib: A visit to Mriza Ghalib’s haveli !!

During the Chandani Chowk photo walk I got the opportunity to visit Mirza Ghalib’s Haveli. We all have heard about this great poet of Mughal’s era but visiting his Haveli was a sublime experience altogether. The Archaeological Survey of India has declared this haveli as a heritage site.

The moment you enter the Haveli you will be transported to the Mughal Era. The brick walls makes it look more authentic. The haveli very nicely represents Mirza Ghalib’s lifestyle. The whole Haveli is adorned by his portraits. You can also very easily spot some of his most popular creations hanging on the brick wall. It was picturesque. Everything in the Haveli was unique in its own way.

C for Cape and C for Condom

Have you ever thought why are we so fascinated to various superheros? I am fascinated to a few too. I know people who follow and worship them like Gods. What do they do which makes them so powerful and sought after, is it their special powers or their good deeds towards the mankind and society. It is nice to watch them doing wonders but can we ever become anything close to what they are. Do we also possess some power or do we also have the capability to contribute towards the welfare of the society.

I believe we all have power inside us. Power to give something, power to bring change even if it is as small as an atom. When I was asked to write about this topic, I sat and pondered as I wanted to bring up something that hasn’t surfaced yet, draw some unique analogy and then the thought of superheros crawled into my mind. I will not preach about why should we encourage the use of condoms, don’t we all know about it. Aren’t we all aware of all the benefits of using condoms. What I want to highlight is that this is one way we all can be superheros in our lives.

Pamper your feet with Velvet Smooth Express Pedi by Scholl, because your feet is as important as your face.

One fine day I come home and discover that the leading footwear and footcare brand Scholl has sent their newly launched product Velvet Smooth Express Pedi for review. Being a lifestyle blogger has its own perks. I was excited to see the product as Scholl is one of the best brands when it comes to foot care. They offer a wide range of products for foot grooming and care. My mother regularly wears Scholl footwear and she speaks very highly about it.

This is how the Express Pedi looked when it came.

I was very excited to try it. Those who know me well, they know how finicky I am about keeping my hands and feet clean. I might forget to wash my face before I sleep but forgetting to clean my feet is something that can never happen. So you imagine my level of rejoice. I quickly unpacked the packet and took out the Express Pedi. It has a sleek design and felt very handy. Have a closer look of the Express Pedi.

What better way to spend the Eid morning than to wander in the lanes of Chandani Chowk !!

It all started when I saw this photo walk event on Facebook. I wasn’t sure of going as it was all about photography and I am obviously not a photographer. But then I saw some ace bloggers accepting the invite and then I thought if not for the photos I have to be there to meet these great people. I have seen their posts, I follow them on every social media and here was a chance to meet them in person. I didn’t wanna give it a miss.

Saturday mornings are a bit difficult for me but the dedication got me going and finally I reached Chandani Chowk, I was in constant touch with Tarun who was one of the organizers. He is also an avid blogger and writes at My Greedy BackPack. He introduced me to the group and then we started with the walk.

After a while everyone wanted to have breakfast, and when in Chandani Chowk how can you eat anything else other than parathas. We made our way to the famous Parathe Wali Gali and treated ourselves with stuffed parathas.

Eid Mubarak and also Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri !!

With Facebook’s continuous memory hop notification I started wondering about past events. Since it is an auspicious occasion of Eid and people are greeting each other by posting wishes on Facebook. One of the posts on my timeline by one of my Malaysian friends caught my attention. She wrote:

“Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri! Eid Mubarak. ..
Have a joyous time with loved ones! !”

I never knew this was also one of the ways to wish for the Joyous occasion of Eid until I visited Malaysia. All I knew was “Happy Eid” and “Eid Mubarak”. The Hari Raya word brought back so many memories of this time in Malaysia. It is one of the most celebrated festivals of Malaysia. I remember during these times we had plethora of free lunches and brunches almost every day. Now imagine this, you are deeply engrossed in your work and suddenly a reminder pops up and notifies you that you have to be at the energy hub for Hari Raya celebrations. It was utter joy. God I miss those times. I regret why wasn’t I writing at that time, I would have given you more insights of the event. But nevertheless like they say “better late than never”.
